הרצון לשחק, במה שנראה כשילוב בין הומור לביטוי ייחודי ומעמיק, קושר בין שני האמנים שגדלו ולמדו במרחק רב זה מזה. שניהם יוצרים מתוך הכרות עם עולם האמנות, תפיסותיו והחומרים המקובלים בו. שניהם בוחרים להגיב לסביבתם באופן שמשמר משהו משפתו וגישתו של הילד התמים המשתעשע ברעיונות וצורות.
המרמן משתמש בנייר כסף - חומר תעשייתי ויום-יומי, שונה לגמרי מהחומרים המקובלים בפיסול המסורתי. ריס היא משתמשת בחיתוך הנייר המקובל באנימציה בתור בסיס, וממנו יוצאת אל ההתרחשות הדינאמית המתפתחת על קירות הגלריה.

The desire to play — in what seems like a blend of humor and unique, profound expression — connects the two artists, who grew up and studied far apart from each other. Both create from a deep familiarity with the art world, its conventions, and materials. Both choose to respond to their surroundings in a way that preserves something of the childlike language and approach, playfully experimenting with ideas and forms.
Hammerman uses aluminium foil – an industrial, everyday material that stands in sharp contrast to those traditionally associated with sculpture. Ryss uses paper cut-outs– a conventional technique in animation – as her point of departure, from which a dynamic action develops across the gallery walls.

נטליה ריס
נטליה ריס, עולה מרוסיה, הגיעה לארץ ב- 2015 אך במעט אחרי פרוץ המלחמה באוקראינה. היא מתגוררת בחיפה ומתחילה לחקור את מציאותה החדשה. היא רושמת את נופי חיפה באובססיביות כדי לפשט אותם ולתרגמם לקומפוזיציות המורכבות מצורות פשוטות. "צורות פשוטות" הוא שמו של הסרט החדש שמוצג בתערוכה. שיטת הבימוי של ריס מבוססת על בניית ציר זמן על יסוד אימפרוביזציה של צורות המקושרות לצלילים, במתכונת של ״כאן ועכשיו״ ועל חזרה על אלו, ועל שילוב בין הצורה והצליל. ריס פיתחה שפה סינסתתית (מלשון – סינסתזיה), המחברת בין צורות פשוטות לצלילים בסיסיים. לצד של הסרט מוצגים עשרות רישומי דיו בשחור לבן של "קליגרפיה" החוזרת על אותם הדימויים: עץ אלון, עץ אורן, מגדל, טחנת רוח, עורב וכיוצא באלה דימויים שאובים מהנוף החיפאי.
Natalia Ryss
Natalia Ryss, immigrated from Russia in 2015 shortly after the first signs of war in the Ukraine. She resides in Haifa and explores her new world. She obsessively draws her new surroundings, abstracting them and translating them into complex compositions made of simple forms. Simple Forms is the name of Ryss's new film screening at the exhibit. Ryss's directorial approach is based on the construction of a timeline through improvisation using images connected to notes and their repetition. Ryss has developed a synesthetic language that joins simple forms and basic notes. Alongside the film a series of black and white ink drawings will be exhibited, these are a form of "calligraphy" that repeats the same images: an oak tree, a pine tree, a tower, a windmill, a crow, and other images taken from landscapes of Haifa.

Itamar Hammerman
A sculptor and visual artist, born in Jerusalem in 1983. He studied in a variety of artistic frameworks in the city. He is one of the founders of Beit Rek and HaMiffal.

בוריס אויכרמן מציג "קולות. תרגומים של פאול צלאן בדאב": אלבום חדש הבנוי מקולו המוקלט של המשורר ניצול השואה פאול צלאן קורא בגרמנית. המופע כולל אימפרוביזציה בהשראת האלבום: בוריס אויכרמן (אלקטרוניקה) וגריגורי לומיזה (קמנצ'ה, אלקטרוניקה), ולאחריה שיחה בין אויכרמן למקס אפשטיין על הפרויקט.
ביו: בוריס אויכרמן הוא אמן ואוצר המתגורר בסינסינטי, אוהיו, ארה״ב. אלבום הבכורה שלו יצא ב-Abstrakce Records ב-2024; קולות הוא אלבומו השני.

Boris Oicherman presents "Voices. Translations of Paul Celan in Dub": a new album built from the recorded voice of Holocaust survivor poet Paul Celan reading in German.
The performance features an improvisation informed by the record: Boris Oicherman (electronics) and Grigory Lomize (kamancheh, electronics), followed by a conversation between Oicherman and Max Epstein about the project.
Boris Oicherman is an artist and curator based in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. His debut record was released on Abstrakce Records in 2024; Voices is his second album.

*בפרפורמנס: 'סילי-בוס' (שיעורי חיים) ידחוס ויקשיח היוצר את ה'תינוק המגודל', בעזרת מגוון סוגים של חבטות. בניסיון לעמיד אותו על הרגלים כבן אדם בוגר.

The evening will include a live performance by Itamar Hammerman*, a screening of Natalia Ryss’s animated films, and a Q&A session with the artists.
*In the performance “Silly-Boss”, the artist will compress and harden the “overgrown baby” through a range of blows, in an attempt to set him on his feet as a fully formed adult.
