המשיכה אל דמות האדם, ובעיקר אל הפנים האנושיות, קושרת את עבודותיהם של מקס אפשטיין ואוהד אמויאל. הדמויות שהם מפסלים או מציירים נראות לנו מוכרות וקרובות משום ששני האמנים טומנים בהן משהו מההתבוננות בעצמם. זו התבוננות ביקורתית וסקרנית, שמשולבת בחקירתם את הסביבה בדרך שמתעלה על המציאות השגורה.
מקס אפשטיין משתמש בחפצים מן המוכן ובגזעי עצים שהוא מוצא באקראי. אוהד מתנסה בחומרים מגוונים ובטכניקות שונות בציור, רישום, הדפס ופיסול.

The pull toward the human figure — and above all toward the human face — binds together the works of Max Epstein and Ohad Amoyal. The figures they sculpt or paint feel familiar, almost intimate, because each artist plants within them a trace of his own self-reflection. It is a gaze both critical and curious, intertwined with an exploration of the world that reaches beyond the boundaries of the ordinary.
Max Epstein turns to found objects and to tree trunks encountered by chance. Ohad Amoyal experiments with a broad range of materials and techniques — painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture.

אוהד אמויאל נולד ב-1989 בראשון לציון, חי ויוצר בירושלים. הוא למד בהדרכתם של צבי לחמן, סשה אוקון, גיל צלנר וסידון רוטנברג. לצד עבודתו האמנותית ליווה אנשים במצבי קצה נפשיים ולימד אמנות לאנשים עם צרכים מיוחדים. התנסויות אלו עיצבו את מבטו ופתחו בפניו דרכי ראייה חדשות. הצורך המתמשך במפגש עם השוליים המודחקים של החברה והנפש הפך למרכיב מרכזי בעבודתו המבקשת להאיר את המקומות שבהם אחדות הדימוי האנושי נפרמת ונשברת. דרך השבר אוהד מבקש למצוא רוך ומשמעות.
Amoyal Ohad
Ohad Amoyal born in 1989 in Rishon LeZion, lives and works in Jerusalem. He studied under Zvi Lachman, Sasha Okun, Gil Tselner, and Sidon Rotenberg. Alongside his artistic practice, he accompanied people in extreme mental states and taught art to people with special needs – experiences that shaped his perspective and opened new ways of seeing. The ongoing need to encounter the repressed margins of society and the psyche has become a central element in his work, which seeks to illuminate the places where the unity of the human image unravels and breaks apart. Through the fracture, Amoyal strives to find tenderness and meaning.Sciences, Hanisui High School, Kramim School, and Wild Kids Animation Studio.
מקס אפשטיין
מקס אפשטיין אמן רב-תחומי. עלה לישראל ב־1990 בגיל 16 מרוסיה, ומאז חי ופועל בירושלים. בוגר בצלאל אקדמיה לאמנות ועיצוב (BA) ובעל תואר שני באמנות (MFA) מאוניברסיטת חיפה.
הציג 23 תערוכות יחיד והשתתף בתערוכות קבוצתיות רבות בארץ ובעולם. ביניהן תערוכות במוזיאון וילפריד ישראל, מוזיאון בת ים, המוזיאון הרוסי לאתנוגרפיה (סנט פטרסבורג) ומוזיאון ישראל (בית טיכו).
אצר תערוכות רבות ויזם פרויקטים אמנותיים במרחב הירושלמי ובחו''ל. ביניהם, פרויקט אמנותי-קהילתי שעוסק בחינוך ואנימציה בשיטה חדשנית: הסטודיו לאנימציה לילדים ולנוער Wild Kids שקיים כבר כ-16 שנה והפך לבית שני עבור יותר מ-400 ילדים ירושלמים.
ב-2023 יסד את Wild Gallery - הגלריה הראשונה בירושלים לאמנויות המסך, בה הוצגו כבר 11 תערוכות, ומאז משמש כמנהל האמנותי.
Epstein Max
Max Epstein is a multidisciplinary artist.
At the age of 16, he immigrated to Israel from Russia in 1990 and has lived and worked in Jerusalem ever since.
He graduated from Bezalel Academy of Arts (BA) and received a Master of Arts (MFA) from the University of Haifa.
Epstein presented 23 solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in Israel and around the world. Among them are exhibitions at the Wilfrid Israel Museum, MOBY - Bat Yam Museum, Russian Ethnography Museum (St. Petersburg), Israel Museum (Tycho House).
Max has curated many exhibitions and initiated artistic projects in Jerusalem and abroad. Among them "Wild Kids Animation Studio", an artistic, community-based project dealing with education and experimental animation using an innovative method. The Studio has been around for 15 years and has become a second home for more than 400 children.
Since 2023, Max Epstein has been the founder and artistic director of the first Jerusalem Screen-Based Arts gallery - Wild Gallery. The Gallery presented 11 original exhibitions in 2 years of its existence.

הוא מימוש חלום שנמשך שנים: לאחד את הצליל הטבעי של קלרינט עם עיבודו האלקטרוני, וליצור סימביוזה שבה כל מרכיב מעשיר את האחר. הכלי שלי, הטכניקות שלי והציוד שלי מתפתחים יחד בתוכנית קונצרט מודולרית זו המבוצעת בלייב.
עולם של צלילים, קולות, קווים והדים נפתח בפניי. המסע נע בין אימפרוביזציה לבין קומפוזיציה, מקול יחיד להרהורים פולי-פוניים, תוך חקירת אפשרויות הכלי וחיפוש המקום שבו זמן ומרחב הופכים למעשה לצליל.

Live Movement is the realization of a long-held dream: to unite the clarinet’s natural sound with its electronic elaboration, creating a symbiosis where each element enriches the other. My instrument, techniques, and equipment evolve together in this modular concert program performed live.
A world of sonorities, voices, lines, and echoes has opened before me. This journey moves between improvisation and composition, from a single voice to polyphonic reflections, exploring the instrument’s possibilities and seeking that place where space and time become sound.

העבודה נובעת מדיאלוג מתמשך בין מאור — אמן רב־תחומי הפועל עם פרפורמנס ופיסול — לבין רהט, מוזיקאי. במהלך הפרפורמנס, חימר וצליל מטופלים כחומרים שווי ערך: שניהם מעוצבים, משתנים ומתפרקים בזמן אמת. היצירה מתפתחת דרך פעולה פיזית, התנגדות חומרית וטרנספורמציה קולית, וחושפת את המתח שבין פוטנציאל גולמי לתוצאה מעוצבת, בין כוח לשבריריות, שליטה וחשיפה.

Live performance HUMAN BEASTS by Tom Maor and Shye Rahat
The work emerges from an ongoing dialogue between Maor, a multidisciplinary artist working with performance and sculpture, and Rahat, a musician. During the performance, clay and sound are treated as equal materials: both are shaped, altered, and dismantled in real time. The piece unfolds through physical action, material resistance, and sonic transformation, revealing the tension between raw potential and formed outcome, between force and fragility, control and exposure.

ב־4 בינואר מציגים האמנים אוהד אמויאל ומקס אפשטיין בפני הקהל את מקבץ השינויים הראשון בתערוכתם פנים מוכרות. לאחר מכן מתקיים פרפורמנס מאת המחול בוטו קרינה חננייה והמוזיקאי אילן חננייה, המגיב לחלל המשתנה ומתפתח בדיאלוג עם העבודות המוצגות.
הערב נחתם בשיחת אמנים עם אוהד אמויאל ומקס אפשטיין, הפותחת דיון על תהליך התערוכה, על גלגוליה ועל מקומה במסגרת פרויקט שולחן עגול הרחב יותר

On 4 January, artists Ohad Amoyal and Max Epstein will introduce the first set of changes to their exhibition Familiar Faces in front of visitors. These shifts are followed by a Butoh performance by dancer Karina Hananeia and musician Ilan Hananeia, responding to the altered space and unfolding in dialogue with the works on view.
The evening concludes with an artist talk by Ohad Amoyal and Max Epstein, opening a conversation about the exhibition’s process, its transformations, and its place within the broader Round Table project.
