בתערוכה "כואב לראות" מוצגות יצירות של שני אמנים – אלכסיי קונוננקו ומקסים דוב – שנעשו בשנה האחרונה על רקע של מלחמה ושינויים דרמטיים בחברה הישראלית.
אלכסיי קונוננקו יוצר מיצב עשוי קליגרפיה, בו הוא כותב מחדש את ספר בראשית, כל פרק על דף נפרד מהם הוא ויוצר תמונה מרובת שכבות, כמעט שחורה ואבסטרקטית. סדרה של 12 עלי פרק שחורים מרמזת על אדריכלות כתב העם היהודי ועל. אופיו הבלתי מושג של הטקסט.
מקסים דוב הוא אמן המשלב בעבודותיו אור השתקפות, יחד עם פרובוקציה דאדאיסטית מחפצים ודימויים שאותרו. בתערוכה יציג מיצבים שבתוכם מראות,ו דימויים המרמזים על רטוריקה טוטליטרית סובייטית.
החלל בתערוכה "כואב לראות" משדר דימוי של אוטופיה, בה הטוטליטריות מיוצגת על ידי אור, אם כי מלווה בהדים, וטקסטים עתיקים שטוחים ומטשטשים בתוך אפלה מרובת שכבות.
The exhibition Painful to Watch features works by two artists – Alexey Kononenko and Maxim Dov – created over the past year amidst two wars and significant changes in Israeli society.
Alexey Kononenko exhibits a conceptual piece in calligraphy, rewriting each chapter of the Book of Genesis on a single sheet, creating a multilayered, almost black abstract image. A series of 12 black leaf-chapters references the architecture of the Jewish codex and symbolizes the elusiveness of the text’s content.
Maxim Dov works with light and reflection, merged with Dadaist provocation using found objects and images. Maxsim will present installations made of mirrors, often referencing totalitarian Soviet rhetoric.
The exhibition space of Painful to Watch presents an image of utopia, where totalitarianism is represented by light, though reflected, and ancient texts are drowned in multilayered darkness.

אלכסיי קונוננקו
אלכסיי קונוננקו , אריכטקט ואומן נולד בקייב,שנת 1968.בשנת 1994 סיים לימודי במכון האדריכלות במוסקבה. הוא עוסק באומנות אדמה, מיצב, ווידאו ארט, רדי מייד, גרפיקה ופיסול. מאז 1997 הוא חבר בקבוצה ארכיטקטי קרח ומאז 2020 בקולקטיב XY, לצד איליה ווזנסנסקי, אולגה פטרוננקו, אירינה קורינה וקבוצת אליקוקה. חי בישראל מאז 2022.
Aleksey Kononenko
Aleksey Kononenko is an architect and artist. He was born in Kyiv in 1968. In 1994, he graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute. His practice includes land art, object-based art, installation, video art, graphic art, and sculpture. Since 1997, he has been part of the architectural-art group Iced Architects (Obledeneniye Arkhitektorov). Since 2020, he has been a member of the art collective XY, alongside Ilya Voznesensky, Olga Petrunenko, Irina Korina, and the Elikuka group. Since 2022, he has been living in Israel.
מקסים דוב
מקסים דוב אמן רב תחומי, יליד 1991 ,מוסקבה.
בוגר בית הספר רודצ'נקו לצילום ומולטימדיה במוסקבה, בסדנה של יגור מוכין , 2017.
בעבודותו חוקר זיכרון וטראומה בין דורית ואת האופן בו אירועים היסטוריים גדולים משפיעים על נרטיבים אישיים. עבודותו משלבות חפצי רדי-מייד ומסמכים קיימים, טכניקות צילום אנלוגי ומייצבי תאורה.
2019–2017 הוא עצר את התערוכה הנסיונית "תערוכה בשיחים" (מעבדה סייט ספסיפיק לאומנות במוסקבה).
כיום חי בירושלים ומנהל ועוצר את "חריקות שישי" מעבדה ניסיונית למוזיקה אקספרימנטלית ואומנות סאונד.
Maxim Dov
Maxim Dov is a multidisciplinary artist, born in Moscow in 1991. He graduated from the Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia, Igor Mukhin’s ‘direct photography’ workshop in 2017.
His main body of work examines memory and generational trauma and the effects that grand historical events cast on personal narratives. To construct his installations, Maxim uses a variety of found objects and documents, analogue photographic processes, and lighting arrangements.
Between 2017 and 2019 he was Co-organiser of Exhibition in the Bushes, a Moscow-based sight-specific visual art laboratory.
He currently lives in Jerusalem and is co-organiser of Harikot Shishi, a noise/experimental music laboratory).
